Due out early in 2013 the Avao harnesses will be phased in to replace the Petzl Navaho harnesses which have proved so popular for Rope Access and Rope Rescue. Whilst looking similar to the Navaho harnesses, the Avao harnesses have some great design changes.
The full Petzl Avao range includes the following:
Petzl Avao Bod Croll Fast – C71CFA0 / C71CFA1
Petzl Avao Bod Fast – C71AFA1 / C71AFA2
Petzl Avao Bod – C71AAA1 / C71AAA2
Petzl Avao Sit Fast – C79AFA0 / C79AFA1 / C79AFA2
Petzl Avao Sit – C79AAA1 / C79AAA2
Petzl Avao Sit Black- C79AAN1 / C79AAN2
Petzl Top Croll – C81CAA
Petzl Top – C81AAA
Petzl Top Black – C81AAN
What’s new / different from the Navaho:
– The AVAO Bod Croll Fast, Avao Bod Fast and Avao Bod have a redesigned chest (top) section that is X-shaped at the rear and the this section is linked through to the leg loops so that if the user is suspended from the dorsal attachment point then the pressures are cleverly distributed through to the padded leg loops and not directly to the waist belt as was the case with the Navaho
– The top section also has a ‘double yolk’ (an inner and and an outer section) with the inner yolk staying flusher to the user if in suspension from the rear (dorsal) attachment point
– Deeper waistbelts offering more padding and support
– Bigger leg loops with more padding
– Neoprene ‘keeper’ for any excess leg loop tape (the AVAO harnesses are aimed to fit a wider size of thigh / waist / height)
– Finger and thumb ‘fast’ buckle release (rather than single finger) which is easier to unclip when wearing gloves
– All the various versions of the Avao harnesses have elasticated rear leg strap retainers (as opposed to the current Bod range which have taped webbing – only the Navaho Sits have elasticated leg strap retainers)
– The side D’s (buckles) ‘flip’ to a ‘store’ position flat with the webbing to help avoid snagging when not in use (rather than sticking out as they currently do)- The Croll on the Avao Bod Croll Fast and Top Croll incorporates the new Croll (due for release in January) which is smaller in design to the old Croll
